Freshmen Grade Transition Program Registration
Please complete the required information below if you are interested in participating in our Freshmen Transition Program. These one-week summer enrichment workshops are available for incoming TJ freshmen who are interested in a non-graded, no-stress opportunity to meet with TJ freshmen and TJ teachers virtually to discuss and engage in topics including critical and creative thinking skills, collaboration, problem solving, academic integrity, and TJ culture. The workshops will be held virtually for 2 hours a day (10 hours total). Students will be requested to use a device with an operable camera. There will be one workshop a day. Each daily workshop will cover a different topic. These workshops are non-credit bearing.

Theme: “How to be a Joyful Scholar”  

Dates: Week 1: Monday, July 21 - Friday, July 25; Week 2: Monday, July 28 - Friday, August 1st 

Times: 9 am - 11 am

Cost: $20/workshop; $100/program. Payments cover all costs of the program; any remaining funds will be transferred to the Class of 2029 Council. Payments accepted via www.myschoolbucks.com, cash or check.  Free and reduced discounts available. Students are welcome to register for all five workshops or select specific ones of their choice from either week. Payments must be received by July 18th.

1.) To pay by credit card, follow these steps to pay on MySchoolBucks: 

Log into www.myschoolbucks.com. If you are new to FCPS, you will need to create an account by selecting the Sign Up Free button and your child must be linked to Jefferson High.

  • Click on the search field (magnifying glass at the top right of the screen) and type in “Joyful Scholar Workshops”. Please note your child must be linked to Jefferson High as the school in MSB to find this product. 

  • Click on "View Details" and add which workshops you would like to attend.  Each workshop must be added one at a time to your basket.

  • Checkout and pay by credit card.

2.) To pay by check, please make the check out to TJHSST and mail to TJHSST, Attention: Finance, 6560 Braddock Road, Alexandria, VA  22312. In the memo line, please reference Joyful Scholar Workshops, preferred dates and your child’s name with their TJ student ID. You may also drop off checks at TJHSST’s front office between 9AM - 3 PM, Monday-Friday. 

3.) To pay by cash, stop by TJHSST’s front office between 9AM-3PM, Monday-Friday.

Registration: July 7th - July 18th, each workshop has a capacity of 100 students. Once the workshop reaches capacity, registration will close.
