Camp Tamarack's Spring 2025 Outdoor School Volunteer Application!
Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Camp Tamarack this Spring and for taking the time to fill out the application! Please note that each week has a limited number of spots available so simply submitting your application DOES NOT guarantee your volunteer position. You will get confirmation via text message from our Volunteer Coordinator. 

From April to June we are hosting overnight Outdoor School for our local 5th-grade classes Mondays-Fridays. This will be a five day experience for our High School Volunteers, start time dependent on week (see questions below), and ending at camp at 12:30 pm on Friday. This is a great opportunity to earn school credit, volunteer hours, college credit, and if you're interested in working at Camp Tamarack in the summer, we hire from our pool of volunteers who have volunteered at Outdoor School! 

To earn school credit for your time at camp, BEFORE you arrive at camp, you need to meet with your future center/ career center/ counseling center/ admin support staff to figure out what your individual school requires to receive credit for this experience. Each school has different requirements to receive high school credit and you must organize this prior to coming to camp.

If you are wanting to apply to work at Summer Camp, you are REQUIRED to attend at least one week of  Outdoor School, either in Spring or Fall, BUT given how competitive the hiring pool is for Summer, it is heavily suggested that you volunteer in the Fall as well in order to get your name out there and show your interest and commitment to camp! 

Each week has a limited number of spots available so simply submitting your application DOES NOT guarantee your volunteer position. Our Volunteer Coordinator will reach out to you within a week to confirm when you will be volunteering. We will be in contact with you via text message to lock in your specific volunteer dates and time!

Transportation
We offer free transportation to and from Bend and Redmond every week. You can find more information regarding transportation in the Welcome Packet, which will automatically be sent to the email(s) provided upon completing the application. 

Please note: Depending on the week, your arrival time can vary greatly! 

For Weeks 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6, you will need to arrive at camp on Sunday at 3PM!

For Weeks 7 and 8, you will need to arrive at camp on Monday at 3PM! 

Half-weeks are an option limited to a handful of weeks. Interested in doing a half week? When you are contacted about your week, pleas mention that and we’ll see what we can do!

Last year, we piloted a brand new experience for High School Leaders! We understand that teaching may not be the typical experience everyone wants out of Outdoor School, so we are offering limited spots in various specializations! 

High School Leaders will still supervise their cabin at specified Cabin Times, and overnight. Specialization specific responsibilities will be between 2-4 hours a day, during the typical teaching/Exploration time. 

This is a great way to gain additional experiences and see the variety of roles that go into maintaining a camp!

Specializations are not guaranteed. They are dependent on needs for the week and interest. If you are given a specialization, you will be contacted specifically. Teaching is the default option.
