Currently, the City of Long Beach spends $204 per youth on youth development but spends over $10,500 on each youth arrest!*
Over 750 Long Beach residents from all 9 districts took our survey and results show that:
- 7 out of 10 strongly support an increase in funding youth development programs and services
- 8 out of 10 believe the best way to make our community safer is when we invest in community- based youth development programs and services.
A balanced budget is equitable and ensures that all young people have the resources they need to thrive. Our future starts today and this is why now is the time to invest in youth!
WE DEMAND THAT OUR CITY SHOW LOVE AND INVEST IN YOUTH BY:
- Establishing a Long Beach Children & Youth Fund (LBCYF) supported by revenue from the general fund and by allocating atleast 50% of marijuana sales taxes to LBCYF
- Protecting funds for youth development and positive support programs and resources from budget cuts especially during deficits.
