Hello everyone! This is the volunteer inquiry form for general members of GAASA interested in getting involved in the community around USC. The organizations listed below focus on providing resources to marginalized communities in many different ways. Here's a little more information about each organization:

AfricActive: an non-profit dedicated to providing food and other free resources so that no one in the community goes hungry. Volunteering occurs on Saturdays from 10 am - 1 pm.
WaterdropLA: an organization dedicated to providing clean drinking water and other free donated resources to individuals on SkidRow. Volunteering occurs on Sundays from 10am - 1 pm and is about a 15-minute drive from campus.
Claremont Forum Prison Library Project: an organization dedicated to treating literacy and access to media in prisons as a right rather than a privilege. Help by donating books.
California Dance Institute: an in-school and after-school arts education program dedicated to teaching students in low-income areas life skills through dance and music. Every May there is a dance show where students from all the schools come together and perform. This year, the show is May 20th-21st in Glendale, and a lot of help will be needed to help make it run smoothly. If you will be in California during the summer, consider volunteering with the CDI! There are a lot of remote volunteer opportunities as well.
Neighborhood Academic Initiative at USC: a college success program dedicated to providing 6th-12th graders from neighborhoods near USC access to college education. Helps first-generation students become college students with resources such as SAT and AP exam prep, and personal development programs. Most volunteering occurs on Saturdays at USC's campus.

A few members of GAASA's e-board will be volunteering in these organizations as well, but we cannot guarantee transportation. If you have questions about transportation or want to see if you can carpool with someone, please message us in the GroupMe or via email!
