Black Friday Meditation Rebellion NYC
We are facing a crisis of extraordinary magnitude. Social and ecological collapse is being driven by climate chaos. Hundreds of millions of human lives are at risk. Countless species are going extinct.
On Black Friday, people from communities across the city and beyond, representing many spiritual and faith traditions, coordinated by Extinction Rebellion NYC, will gather in meditation as an act of resistance to business as usual, to a system of consumerism that asks us to participate in our own destruction. This action will be part of city-wide acts of disruption on Black Friday.
On Nov. 29 we'll begin with a convocation at 12 PM sharp outside the NY Public Library at 476 5th Ave between 40th and 42nd St. At 12:30 PM we will mindfully walk together in meditative silence to Union Square to participate in a disruptive group meditation.
All are welcome and anyone can participate without any risk of arrest if desired.
We will sit in silence and stillness, in love and connection, in powerful nonviolent direct action in the spirit of Dr. King and Gandhi. We will peacefully raise the alarm about the crisis at hand. We are demanding political and economic systems that honor relationship and reciprocity and care for all life.
With loving-kindness and fierce compassion, we are rebelling. We will do everything in our power to protect ourselves and all beings, our future, and all we hold dear.
"Stop. Breathe. Rebel."
