A small amount of your time will make a big difference to our mission.

For more than a decade, Climate.gov was the U.S. government’s leading platform for climate information for the public. In summer 2025, NOAA dismantled its team and hid the site’s homepage behind a permanent redirect to a webpage controlled by political appointees.

The team behind Climate.gov is launching Climate.us—a nonprofit successor that will be true to the science and free from political interference. Our editorial model depends on experts who are willing to share a little of their time and expertise to help us make sure the stories, graphics, and other content we make is objective, based on the best available science, and transparent about uncertainty.

Volunteering for our science panel means that a few times a year, you'll be asked to do something like...

  • review a web story for scientific accuracy,
  • provide a quote for a story,
  • connect us with another expert in a discipline related to yours,
  • tell us what you think of a paper or topic we are considering covering,
  • recommend a dataset to use for a graphic,
  • answer a question sent to us by a reader,
  • wrangle some data for a plot we want to make.
It's OK if you have to say no to some requests. We hope to have enough volunteers that we have some overlapping expertise.

I regret that we can't offer funding in return for your time and expertise; we don't have those resources. But we can offer in-kind communications support, including the production of magazine-quality graphics and data visualizations for your own use, guidance/training on data visualization and graphics, or editing for your own written products. Unless you prefer to be anonymous, you'll be publicly acknowledged on the site.

If you're willing to be part of our effort to make sure the public has access to the information it needs to understand and respond to climate variability and change, please fill out the form below. If you have additional questions, you can write to us at info@climate.us.
