We are now accepting applications, for children who will be in KS2 in September 2025, to learn (or continue learning) to play a musical instrument.
We have a variety of instruments to learn and lessons take place during the school day. Most of our teachers are from the Hampshire Music Service and we have 1 independent guitar and ukelule teacher. Lessons can be in a small group (cheaper) or on a 1:1 basis (more expensive). There is a lot of information below but we have tried to make it as straight forward as possible. Please do read it all carefully and be aware of the deadline of Monday 28th April.
Why are we sending this out so far ahead?
The Hampshire Music Service processes all applications from schools across Hampshire and it takes them until July to allocate the teachers to all schools.
How does it work?
1. Parents apply for a place (using this form).
2. We collate applications to apply for teaching hours from Hampshire Music Service teachers or independent music teachers. We will ask for enough teaching time to cover all applications so everyone who wants to learn, can.
3. Hampshire Music Service process all applications from schools across Hampshire and we wait until July to hear back from them about our teaching hours. As explained above, you are more than likely to be successful if you have applied. Please read the Terms and Conditions very carefully within this form before applying as we cannot accept withdrawals once our application in April is made.
4. For independent teachers - we pass on applications to them at the same time as applying to HMS for their teaching hours. The teacher then contacts you directly, usually within a shorter timescale.
5. We contact you as soon as we hear from Hampshire Music Service (usually mid-end of July) with details of your child's teacher, day and time.
My child is currently learning - don't they just continue in September?
No - if you don't apply again we will assume you wish to stop. This is to ensure that the school do not end up paying for unrequired teaching time. You still need to fully complete this form to confirm you wish them to continue next year. Please re-read the terms and conditions and note any price changes for the next year.
What happens if I don't get a place?
If, in the unlikely event that we are unable to give places to all applicants, we will be in touch with you as soon as we are able to. Your child would be added to a waiting list in this scenario.
How much do lessons cost?
Please read the policies in the next sections for information about the different pricing structures.
When is the deadline to apply?
The deadline for completion of applications is Monday 28th April.
