Oak Knoll School Request for Independent Study Program (ISP)
Dear Oak Knoll Families,
In the event that a student cannot attend school for at least the minimum of three days due to travel or quarantine, Menlo Park City School District offers the Independent Study Program (ISP) option.
Please note:
According to district policy for Independent Study in TK-8, no more than 2 weeks may elapse between the date the assignments are made by the teacher and the date it is due. The due date must be the first school day after end date or 5 days, whichever comes first. If students do not submit the completed ISP, it will be marked incomplete and their absences will be considered unexcused.
To request the Independent Study Program option for your student, please follow the steps below:
1. Notify the teacher that your student will be doing the Independent Study Program. Ideally give a week's notice so that teachers have time to get assignments together.
2. Submit attendance on SchoolMessenger and indicate 'Travel' or 'Personal or Other Reason' for the days on ISP.
3. Complete the form below for each student.
4. Student completes the assignments.
5. Submit completed assignments to the office upon return to school. The ISP must include a work sample to be complete.
If you have any questions, please contact our office or email Kathia Camacho Lopez (kcamacholopez@mpcsd.org).
Thank you,
The Oak Knoll Office
