Internationalisation to ASEAN - EU SME Survey
ASEAN is the Association of Southeast Asian Nations. Members include Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Laos, Brunei, Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, Cambodia and the Philippines. As of 2016, ASEAN's 10 economies represent $2.5 trillion in combined gross domestic product (GDP), around 4% of the global total; their combined population is 639 million people, around 9% of the global total.Growth in ASEAN is now forecast at 5.0% in 2017 and 5.1% in 2018.

According to the third annual EU-ASEAN Business Sentiment Survey by the EU-ASEAN Business Council, which polled more than 300 executives from European companies around Southeast Asia, European businesses continue to have a very positive outlook in ASEAN region and expect to see ASEAN profits increase. Moreover, according to this report, 94% of European businesses plan to expand or maintain their current levels of operations and headcount in the ASEAN region. However, challenges for businesses still remain, impeding ASEAN from reaching its maximum economic potential. Therefore the main aim of this survey is to obtain feedback for increase of internationalization opportunities for EU SMEs to ASEAN region.

This survey has been designed by the SEBSEAM-M project (https://businessmalaysia.eu/) which is an initiative co-funded by the European Commission, and is led the EU-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (EUMCCI).

The SEBSEAM initiative was set up to provide support for European SMEs in South East Asia Markets, including Malaysia.
This survey will help:
          - to identify obstacles SMEs entering ASEAN market are facing
          - to gain deeper understanding of needs of those companies who want to enter ASEAN market
          - to design better supporting services

We would kindly ask you to take 5-10 minutes of your time to complete the survey and tell us about your experience engaging/expanding in Asian markets.

EUMCCI is organizing their annual flagship event, Trade Investment Forum in April 2018. This Forum is a platform for the business community to have a high level dialogue with the Malaysian policy makers in addressing key issues of trade and investment between the European Union and Malaysia.
In conjunction to this forum, EUMCCI will also launch their annual EUMCCI Trade Issues and Recommendations publication which focuses on the current status of EU business in Malaysia and presents a compilation of industry specific issues and recommendations, composed by their sectoral committees. We are pleased to share e-copy of this publication for your reference once it is launched.
