Calling all supporters!
These next few days are crucial to keep the momentum of #TakeSurvivorsSeriously going and we’re calling on you, as Goldsmiths students, to help us fill the Warden’s inbox everyday for the next two weeks. The Warden of Goldsmiths, Frances Corner, has the power to reverse Senior Management's decision to stop funding the Against Sexual Violence project, so we need to call on her to do so. This is a proven strategy that has been instrumental in the success of previous campaigns with the University. This form will guide you through our two calls of action you can do as a Goldsmiths student: emailing the Warden and sharing our campaign with as many other students as possible.

We're collecting email addresses to track which departments we reach.

Email the Warden
Yes, we're asking you to do this again (sorry!!!) but this time we have a more adjustable template (you don't have to write much, the idea is that it's too many emails for any one person to read!). The most important thing for this surge of emails is to have varying subject lines and content so it's clear these are individual messages of support from actual humans who care about human rights and not just robots (who care about human rights)!

1. In a new tab or window, compose a new email addressed to: wardensoffice@gold.ac.uk
2. Write your own email or adjust the template below.
3. Send the email now OR even better, schedule-send the email for:

-the next coming Monday if you are an Aries, a Taurus, or a Gemini
-the next coming Tuesday if you are a Cancer, a Leo, or a Virgo
-the next coming Wednesday if you are a Libra or a Scorpio
-the next coming Thursday if you are a Sagittarius or a Capricorn
-the next coming Friday if you are an Aquarius, a Pisces, or if you don't know your sign.

EMAIL TEMPLATE:

Subject: create your own! you can riff off our campaign asks:

- #TakeSurvivorsSeriously
- Save ASV / Fund ASV
- Reverse SMT's decision
- Honour the College's commitments
- Sexual violence prevention is a priority
- etc.

Dear Professor Frances Corner, Warden of Goldsmiths,

I am a Goldsmiths student studying.../passionate about.../who has experienced.../who has friends who have experienced.../etc... (establish yourself as a member of the community & why she should value your opinion)

I am writing in support of the campaign to save the Against Sexual Violence project because...(add your reasons)

I urge you to... (if you could talk to the Warden directly, what would you ask of her?)

It’s only right that... (a concluding statement re-centring your core values)

Thank you for your consideration, and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Share this campaign with your lecturers
Not only can our lecturers share the campaign widely to all the students that they teach but they have influence over the Warden's decision because Professor Frances Warden is an academic and cares about her professional reputation.

Send an email to your lecturer(s) asking for their support. You can write your own or use the template below (it's OK, we can be robots again):

Hi [LECTURER’S NAME],

I hope you’re well. I’m reaching out to ask for your support for an urgent campaign to save the Against Sexual Violence project at Goldsmiths. If you haven’t heard already, Senior Management have decided to stop funding the project and the SU is calling on the Goldsmiths Community to urge Frances Corner, the Warden, to reverse this decision. You can learn more about the “Take Survivors Seriously” campaign here: (https://rb.gy/fa4aty)

I’m spreading the word as much as I can because [INSERT YOUR OWN REASON] and the University has a duty of care towards its students and staff.

I’m asking if you could help by:

-pledging your support of the campaign by filling out this form: (rb.gy/qduzth);
-sharing this campaign with our entire cohort and other students you teach;
-and sharing this campaign with other staff members who could do the same.

I hope you understand how urgent and important it is to spread the word. The Warden has the power to save the Against Sexual Violence project and it’ll take lots of us, both students and especially staff, to urge her to take action.

Thanks so much for your time.

Share in your uni WhatsApp groups
If no-one has mentioned #TakeSurvivorsSeriously in your WhatsApp groups yet, share a quick message with the links to our campaign. We know that people care deeply about sexual violence prevention and we want to give as many people the chance to have their voice heard. Even if it's not a super active group, this can be the way that that one person who's never on social media finds out about #TakeSurvivorsSeriously!

Share this campaign directly with 5 (or more) other people
Social media posts and group chats are a great way to create a broader culture that shows survivors they are not alone, but it's important work to reach out to people directly who might not know that their silence can be deafening. Everyone has survivors in their lives, whether they know it or not. We're asking you to direct message 5 people who might not ordinarily support a campaign like this or who might need a little more encouragement.

Use Twitter, Messenger, Instagram, TikTok, WhatsApp, or whatever you prefer to use—just make sure it's a DM.
