The University Counseling Center and the LION UP Collegiate Recovery Program now offers a variety of support groups! Understand that these are support groups and are not considered to be counseling groups. Discretion is encouraged and confidentiality is not guaranteed. Indicate which groups you are interested in attending and we will send you updates and reminders via email.

If presenting concerns warrant further treatment and exploration, services at the University Counseling Center or another professional provider may be recommended.

I am interested in attending Here and Queer - An interactive social support group that will explore issues that impact Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning, Intersex, Asexual, and Pansexual students.  This will be a safe space to get information, connect with other SELU students, and seek support with relationships, family and friends, coming out, transitioning, questioning, and identity development.  Wednesdays at 4pm *
I am interested in attending the Depression and Anxiety Seminar- Monthly psychoeducational and support groups where members learn empowering skills and build support for one another through anxiety and depression. Bi-weekly, Stating February 10th, Time 5:00 PM (Student Union Room 2409) *
Creative Circle Support group: This group is catered to Southeastern’s creative students. We intend to create a safe and engaging space for participants to be themselves. We’ll use creative prompts to share and explore the mental health issues, identity and personal growth concerns, and thoughts & emotions that impact our lives as artists, musicians, writers, performing artists & out-of-the-box thinkers. January 24th, February 21st, and March 21st, Time 3:00 PM (Student Union Annex Room 2206)

Eco-therapy Group: The group will focus on using mindfulness to connect with nature as a resource for coping with anxiety. Will occur outside when weather permits. DATE AND TIME TBD

I am interested in attending Ripple Effect: Ripple Effect is a support group designed to provide concerned significant others the tools they need to effectively support their loved one, without supporting the addictive behavior. “SMART Recovery Family & Friends” will include tools for emotional self-management, positive communication, boundary setting, changing enabling behaviors, dealing with trust issues, and more. - Wednesdays at 4 pm. *
I am interested in: Southeastern Recovery Night, a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength, and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem, and help others in their struggle with addiction. This Recovery Night is not A.A. or any other traditional 12- step program. It is however, our desire to recognize and affirm milestones of recovery in all 12-step programs, as well as addictions for which an appropriate 12-step group may not even exist. Wednesdays at 5 pm in Student Union Rm 2409 *
I am interested in Smart Recovery: This is a science-based addiction support group where we learn self-empowering skills and support each other in our recovery.  No matter what your addiction, SMART Recovery can help you change. Tuesdays at 4:30pm in Student Union Room 2409. *
I am interested in attending: The LION UP Recovery Book Club, a weekly Recovery Book Discussion support group. Join us as we read through the The Book of Narcotics Anonymous.  The support group is open to all those who are interested. The purpose is to bring faculty, students and staff together for meaningful discussion around topics of recovery. Participants discuss the reading, what they learned and what they can relate to. This group hosts a moderator and a tag-pass format. Wednesdays at 11am in the (Room 2409 of the Student Union Annex)

I am interested in: Refuge Recovery, a support group grounded in the belief that Buddhist principles and practices create a strong foundation for the addiction recovery process.  Wisdom and compassion enable those struggling with any form of addiction to become more mindful of their mental processes while also developing a deep understanding of the suffering that addiction has created and compassion for their own path. Thursdays at 12:30 pm (Student Union Annex Room 2409)
