If you like to get your hands working and enjoy a physical or outdoor work, we always need help with things like making sand molds, moving heavy stuff on pallets, breaking hard things, cleaning up the pour floor, grinding raw castings, and generally being part of the iron crew!

(Pre-event) Mold Preparation: Pulling clay out of sand molds - DETAIL ORIENTED / NOT HARD LABOR / INDOOR / REQUIRES PATIENCE
(Pre-event) Iron and coke breaking (Requires wearing PPE, and swinging sledge hammers!)
(Pre-event) Sand Mold Making at FeLion Studios.
Pre-Event: (Trucks or Vans helpful!) Transporting molds and equipment, loading trucks / trailers in Waunakee, and / or unloading in Madison.
(Pre-event) Graphite mold wash (VERY DETAIL ORIENTED, VERY DIRTY, REQUIRES WEARING PPE).
(Pre-event) - Friday outside labor - Building pour floor, staging molds, moving pallets, hanging banners, setting furnace...etc etc.
(Event Morning): General Labor- running sand molds onto pour floor, setting up VIP table activities, starting wood fires by burn barrels, provide an extra hand to artists moving gear / molds / equipment.
(Event Morning): Artist mold check-in - (heavy lifting involved) helping artists unload their sand molds onto pallets, and arranging molds on pour floor the morning of the event.
Event Day: FOUNDRY IN A BOX station 11am-2pm - helping patrons start their sand molds at FIB,. Must be good with people, some knowledge of the mold making process is preferred.
(During Event): Pour Floor - Moving & cooling new castings from molding benches to public cleaning tables. (outdoor, public-facing, safety-minded person willing to demonstrate to public how to scrub castings with wire brushes)
(Event Night) - Night time Cleanup (outdoor)- Help pull all the hand tools, gear, cleaned up castings, electrical tools, hoses, and anything that could freeze or be stolen, into a storage shed before the Afterparty starts.
Day After Event (Sunday) - Aftermath Cleanup Crew: Involves picking up and properly disposing sand and metal from the ground, and packing up tools and equipment into bins and onto pallets. (anytime between 10am-3pm)
Week After Event: Grinding And Cleaning Finished Castings at FeLion Studios. We use a shot blaster (mechanical cleaner) for most of the castings, but sometimes they need a little extra grinding. This should be 3-5 hours tops.

ADMINISTRATION tasks at events:
If your superpower is organization, communications, retail sales, customer service, or just being a generally helpful / friendly person capable of working well with others, there are lots of tasks to fill:

This includes helping setup or work at the merch table + info booths, help sell tickets at the Foundry in the Box station, or being task-master on the pour floor after the pour to help organize and pack all the gear onto designated pallets.

Event Day: Mold Check-in (early morning, outdoors)
Event Day: Artist Check-In at the Info + Merch Table (indoors) - Make sure artists sign liabilities waivers, grab a colored arm band designating experience level, and showing where artists' lounge is inside Garver Feed Mill.
Event Day: Merch Table - (Retail Sales) - If you know your way around a Square store, and comfortable working with people and computers at the same time, or have general "Customer Service" skills and are willing to learn- this spot is for you.
Event Day: VIP Tent ticket master (outside). Checking wristbands and helping people pay for day-of tickets at the door.
Post-Event (Sunday): Cleanup Coordinator - must be good at delegating tasks or interested in being a "point of contact" person for crew looking for guidance outside during clean up.
Christmas Tree Drop Off Area: Helping direct people to where to put their trees, taking cash money, and
Creative tasks: Marketing, graphic design work, A/V help, sponsor banners, social media event page management, etc.
