This month I'm trying something a little different for the Natural Mystery--an audio recording. This recording was made near Tompkins, New York in Spring of 2013, and is part of the Macaulay Library's media archive at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. The species is common across much of the eastern United States, and there are closely related species out west. The question is "who?"

An ideal answer will identify the animal to species, explain how you arrived at your answer, and explain how you eliminated other possibilities. Sharing these details will help others benefit from your process.
