Estate Planning Welcome Kit and Intake Form
Welcome to Ward & Oehler law firm! Thank you for choosing to work with our firm in completing your estate plan. Our firm has been providing high quality legal services to individuals, business, families, and farmers throughout Southeastern Minnesota for over 45 years, and we focus on building long-term relationships with each of our clients. This Welcome Packet will help us get acquainted with the specifics of your situation and inform you of our planning process so that we may better serve you.
Our planning process begins with the initial intake form and initial meeting. We ask that you complete this intake form prior to your initial meeting. You do not need to complete this entirely, but it does help us learn more about your situation prior to our first meeting. In our first meeting, we will review your questionnaire and identify your estate planning goals. We will discuss the details of your plan and the mechanics of what your family can expect in the event of your death. Please note that we do take partial payment of your estimated fee in this appointment. We will begin drafting your documents as soon as we have all the necessary information together. After the documents are drafted, we send them out to you for you to review. We ask that you check the people you have named, the spellings of names, and write down any questions you have about your documents. If you have any questions or changes, please let us know. When we have your documents finalized, the next step is to schedule an appointment to come in to sign them. We will have execution copies here and ready for you to sign when you come in. This entire process is designed to be a smooth and efficient experience for our clients.
You should bring with you to your appointment any prior wills. It can also be helpful to have property tax statements if we will be planning with any real estate. In some cases, deeds or abstracts may be needed as well.
We look forward to working with you in putting an estate plan in place that is a reflection of your values and goals. We appreciate the trust you have placed in us and strive to provide the highest level of service to our clients. If at any point you have questions, concerns, or are dissatisfied with our representation of you, please do not hesitate to let us know!
