2019 NIHB Native Public Health Innovation Awards Nomination
In an effort to honor individuals, Tribes, organizations, and programs that have enriched and improved American Indian and Alaska Native public health, the National Indian Health Board (NIHB) invites nominations for the Native Public Health Innovation Awards. NIHB plans to offer three awards in total - one national award, to a recipient whose work has had a significant national impact; one regional award, to a recipient whose work has primarily impacted an Area or region; and one local award, to a recipient whose work has been primarily local in impacting a community or Tribe.

NIHB created these awards to recognize excellence, achievement, and innovations that are above and beyond the call of service.  NIHB recognizes that public health is a traditional Native value and that Tribes have led the way in creating and implementing public health programming and services that align not only with contemporary needs, but with cultural beliefs as well. These awards will highlight the work and vision of a Tribe, individual, organization or program that has worked to improve health status, implement new programming, address long standing health disparities, and/or increase the visibility of Tribal public health concerns.

NIHB will present the awards at the 10th Annual National Tribal Public Health Summit in Albuquerque, New Mexico. All nominations should be received by 11:59 p.m. ET on Friday, February 15, 2019. The winners will be notified within three weeks upon close of the nominations.
