    STONEWALL SUITES AGREEMENT

All residents of the Stonewall Suites Community will be expected to abide by the following terms and conditions: All students will be required to abide by all residence hall policies and deadlines. All residents of Stonewall Suites are required to attend Fall and Spring Retreats and complete Safe Space training during their first semester. Participants must commit to maintaining a comfortable and safe living environment free of discrimination based on gender identity, gender expression and/or sexual orientation. Stonewall Suites residents agree to participate in assessment of the living community throughout the year in order to provide feedback and evaluation information. Students living in the Stonewall Suites Community must participate in at least two educational, social, or advocacy opportunities provided by the LGBTQ Center or one community service project or outreach activity with the LGBTQ Center per semester. Students who do not meet these requirements will not be asked back the following year. Applicants who are not selected for the Stonewall Suites Community will be eligible to take part in the general housing selection under the usual terms and conditions of the housing selection process. Residents will be required to live in Stonewall Suites for the Fall 2014 & Spring 2015 semesters. The Stonewall Suites Living community is not intended for romantic couples. However, we respect and honor the privacy of our students, so current procedures do not require students to disclose the reason for their suite-mate requests. It is the student’s choice to communicate with parents or family members about the decision to live in and participate in the Stonewall Suites Community. Residence Life and the LGBTQ Center encourages this conversation between parents or family members and students about the housing choice so that they can be in support of the student’s decision. Residence Life and the LGBTQ Center values the rights of its students and will not provide their personal residential information to anyone, including family members and/or guardians. All Stonewall Suites communications will be sent to your MSU email address. All residents of the Stonewall Suites Community will be required to attend the Stonewall Retreat where they will meet their suite-mates and fellow community members, attend interactive workshops and educational trainings to develop the skills necessary to create a safe, comfortable living environment, and learn about various campus resources and support services available to them at Montclair State University. Safe Space Training will also be covered at this training. Participants agree to the purpose of this program and understand that they play an important role in setting and creating community standards that support the purpose of this community. If a student should violate any part of this agreement or the community standards developed for the community, the LGBTQ Center in conjunction with Residence Life may reassign participants to a different space on campus.
