Guidelines:
A separate questionnaire should be completed for each child in order to have an initial assessment of the level of proficiency in the Serbian language. Based on the results, your child will be assigned to the appropriate peer group.

INITIAL ASSESSMENT OF THE LEVEL OF PROFICIENCY IN THE SERBIAN LANGUAGE:

1. To which extent does your child understand Serbian language? *

He/she does not understand Serbian language at all.

He/she only understands short statements/questions (Have some water. What's your name?)

He/she understands most statements. Communication is possible with the parents' help, without relying on another language.

He/she understands conversations about topics specific to his/her age; vocabulary is limited.

Understanding is at the native-like fluency level.

3. Does your child speak Serbian language? *

He/she does not speak Serbian language at all.

He/she knows only few typical sentences (to introduce himself/herself, to say how old he/she is).

He/she speaks with a reduced vocabulary, with often mistakes in cases, gender, in plural.

He/she has a vast knowledge of vocabulary. Speech errors are rare (case, plural).

Speech is completely at the native-like fluency level.

3. Does your child read in Serbian language? *

He/she has not yet learned to read in any language (e.g. English).

He/she cannot read Serbian Latin alphabet.

He/she cannot read Serbian Cyrillic alphabet.

He/she can read Serbian Latin alphabet slowly, with his/her parents' help.

He/she can read Serbian Cyrillic alphabet slowly, with his/her parents' help.
