Writing Prompts for Admission to Graduate Program in Education at Morningside College

Directions for Writing Prompts:
Each applicant will respond to four writing prompts. The writing prompts should be written clearly, logically and proofread for spelling and mechanical correctness. Since these are meant to be short writing prompts, the applicant needs to be succinct. Successful Writing Tip #1: Take the time to answer each writing prompt in a word processor that employs spell check, then copy and paste each answer into its respective prompt.

    Writing Conventions: Uses all necessary English writing conventions (mechanics, grammar, punctuation, spelling, complete sentences, with no fragments or run-on sentences, etc.) without errors, making the meaning clear, easy to read and understand.
    Organization: Information is presented in a clear, logical, engaging and easy-to-follow sequence. A variety of sentence structure is utilized to hold the reader’s attention. If necessary, all points are appropriately paragraphed with strong and/or consistent transitions between paragraphs.
    Content: All writing prompts answered thoroughly with appropriate supporting detail. Examples are specific and concrete, while providing extensive support to the writing prompts.
