Instrumental Music Lessons Haberfield PS
At Haberfield as well as class music students can learn a musical instrument from one of the visiting tutors. Unfortunately lessons are not funded by the Department of Education & there are fees. The fees are discounted compared to learning privately outside of school. Private instrumental lesson cost about $35-$40 per 30 min lesson.

Instruments can be purchased or hired. There are good local music shops at Logans Burwood 9744 240, Optimum Percussion Burwood 9744 1829, Sax & Woodwind 9557 4588 or The Music Place 9550 0100.

Instrumental loans for Woodwind (Flute, Clarinet, Oboe) & Brass (Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone & Euphonium) are available through the NSW Department of Education Instrumental loan scheme. In 2018 the cost is $140 per year plus a $100 annual service fee.

All students learning an instrument from a visiting tutor must join the school band. There are 3 bands from Junior to Senior, 2 String ensembles & a recorder ensemble. Junior band for beginners is Fridays 8.10 am or Training Strings Tuesdays 8.10 am. The cost is $85 per semester (2 terms) or $170 per year, payable at the beginning of each semester.

Students will need Essential Elements 2000 book 1 for their instrument when they join a school band or are given music when joining the Training String ensemble. Essential Elements 2000 book 1 is available at Logans Pianos, Optimum Percussion & other music stores above.
