Horizon is a programme, inspired by the teachings of St. Josemaria Escrivá, and the spirit of Opus Dei.
The Programme aims at helping secondary schoolboys to become:
- Strong and well-grounded Catholics who have a real and deep friendship with Jesus Christ
- Mature young men who are confident and content in their convictions and beliefs
- Young men who work hard, and who are capable of responsibility and try to help those who are less well off.
The Autumn programme includes overnight trips, study weekends, a retreat and in turn these can include: cooking, sport, study, soup runs for the homeless, hikes, gardening, quizzes, skills workshops (debating, public speaking etc), leadership talks, movie nights, get-togethers, mentoring, teamwork, talks, music sessions, periods or prayer and adoration, and much more!
Brosna Educational Centres CLG works in collaboration with the Prelature of Opus Dei to deliver a solid Christian formation, in accordance with the teaching of the Catholic Church, to each participant.
The Role of Mentoring: One-to-one mentoring helps each participant to put into effect what they learn in the programme. Each one is assigned a mentor who guides him in finding practical applications of the principles taught in the Programme. The mentor is like a coach who teaches, challenges and encourages each boy to reach his best. Specifically, he helps to set goals that are important and practical. In an ongoing way, he helps the participant track his progress towards these goals.
