Parent Involvement at CFES
There are many ways for parents to be involved at our school! Commitment levels vary depending on the task. Our amazing parents manage so many programs, events and opportunities that would not be possible without their support! We are planning for next year, and we value and appreciate your input! Please share your feedback where applicable below. Feel free to pass over any area where you don't have feedback, but we welcome any open feedback about the opportunities outlined below, so be sure to scroll through to the bottom of the form and tell us your thoughts!

Marquee Management - Description
Commitment: Year-Round opportunities. A Chairperson works with the CFES admin for marquee content, and organizes a team of volunteers to update the marquee information once a week (occurs every Friday except during holidays).

Yearbook Photography & Design Support - Description
Commitment: Year Round. Assist the Photography Chair in taking and providing photographs from school events and happenings to the Yearbook Chair. Assist Yearbook Chair in Design & Editing Process when needed.

Room Parent - Description
Commitment: entire school year. Collect and distribute class roster information. Act as liaison for teacher and PTO by sending emails to class as requested. Work with other grade-level room parents to plan and execute class parties and PJ/Movie day snacks. Create a class flag for Creekfest. Provide group photos from class events to Yearbook Chair. This feedback will be very helpful going into next year, as early placement of Room Parents facilitates better communication early on.

Teacher Support - Description
Commitment: Year-round opportunities, every other week. Be part of a team that gathers in the grade-level pods at a specified time (organized by the Teacher Support Chairperson) and help accomplish various tasks for teachers.

Library Support - Description
Commitment: various opportunities throughout the school year. A Chairperson and a team of volunteers will organize signups and volunteers to help shelve books in the main library and the guided reading library, work with Mrs. Hock to organize support at the Book Fairs (photo booth at Muffins with Moms, etc.), organize signups for volunteers to help set up and take down the Book Fairs.

Staff Hospitality - Description
Commitment: Monthly. Work within a specified budget to organize monthly teacher luncheons. Set up, break down. Organize volunteers and create volunteer signups.

Spirit Nights / Partner Share Programs - Description
Commitment: Varies - events are throughout the year, but can be set up far in advance. Plan Back to School/Meet the Principal spirit event in August, and other spirit events (based on survey feedback) throughout the school year. Help encourage and solicit participation from PTO leaders to be present to represent at spirit nights whenever possible. Print labels/stickers for reminders for students, hang spirit night banners. Deliver ice cream signup & receipt bucket prior to event, and pick it up afterwards. Manage and promote Partner Share programs such as Amazon Smile, Kroger Community and shopping events.

Cougar Connection Newsletter - Description
Commitment: 2 hours per week for novice, less with experience. Gather information and prepare a weekly PTO newsletter for approval and distribution. Work closely with PTO Officers, school administration and Website/Social Media chair to maintain an up-to-date calendar. Graphics and layout skills are very helpful for this position. Prepare ads and placement of logos for sponsors as specified in our sponsorship agreement. Participate in any Membership Toolkit webinars related to newsletters and content.

PTO Website and Social Media - Description
Commitment: 30 minutes per week and periodic online seminars. Update our PTO website and Public Facebook account with information provided by the PTO Officers. Work closely with PTO Officers, school administration and Website/Social Media chair to maintain an up-to-date calendar. Graphics and layout skills are very helpful for this position. Prepare ads and recognition of sponsors as specified in our sponsorship agreement. Participate in any Membership Toolkit webinars related to website design and content. Work with website host to maintain up-to-date email contacts and more. Work with Membership Toolkit to resolve any web related issues.

Volunteer Management - Description
Commitment: Monthly/as needed throughout the year. Coordinate, manage and distribute volunteer signups on behalf of school staff and PTO Chairs.

Community Sponsorships - Description
Commitment: Considerable commitment just prior to and during membership drive. Solicit community sponsors to support school programs and activities. Manage all aspects of confirmed community sponsorships, including but not limited to, providing each community sponsor the appropriate PTO tax write-off information and receipts, writing and delivering thank you notes and/or plaques based on sponsorship level. Ensure all sponsors receive sponsor level benefits (i.e. include sponsor information on PTO website, event banners, and social media forums). Provide sponsorship information to Treasurer for book keeping requirements.
Community Sponsorships
Watch D.O.G.S
Commitment: One or more days per school year. Watch D.O.G.S. is a program for fathers and father figures to provide a positive and active role model for their student and other students at their school.

Creekfest Fundraiser
Commitment: Varies by task. Can be significant time commitment. Ranges from November (for things such as planning and soliciting silent auction donations and attending planning meetings) through March. Assist the Vice President in planning an executing this fun event and significant fundraiser for CFES. If you are interested in more detailed descriptions of the tasks listed, please note at the bottom of form. Please mark any following teams you are interested in serving on, or managing if needed.
Friends of Creekside
Commitment: Three weeks at the beginning of the school year. Communicate to the parent body the process and importance of contributing to one of our most significant fundraisers of the year - a hassle free check writing campaign.

Spirit Wear Support
Commitment: Significant commitment during membership drive and Creekfest. Assist the Spirit Wear Chairperson as needed in design of spirit wear to present to Officers and Principal for approval, obtaining quotes from multiple vendors and distribution of shirts.

Family Events Support
Commitment: Assist the Family Events Chairperson with family events throughout the school year.

Picture Day Assistant
Commitment: opportunities in the fall and spring for individual pictures, class pictures and club pictures. Be a runner to keep classes on schedule. Help teachers get students ready for pictures.
Health Screening Support
Commitment: one day. Assist Nurses in keeping the screening process moving along by being a runner to get students to and from their classes.
Chalk the Walk & Walk to School Day Event
Commitment: two days. Assist the Community Relations Chairperson in planning and executing the Chalk the Walk and Walk to School events.
Lunch with Heroes Support
Commitment: one day. Assist the Community Relations Chairperson in planning and executing the Lunch with Heroes event.
Bus Helpers
Commitment: First Week of school from 8-8:30 am. Help put color-coded wristbands on younger students as they arrive into the cafeteria from the buses. This helps them get back to their proper buses at the end of the day. Escort new students to their classrooms. Your students can accompany you and wait in the cafeteria (or enjoy breakfast) until 8:10, when they are allowed to go to their classrooms.
Language Liaison
Commitment: Throughout the year. Volunteer to be a contact person for CFES for families with language barriers, to help answer questions or help clarify communication when necessary. If you are interested in helping, please specify below the languages in which you are fluent, along with the contact information you would like to be distributed/posted.
Community Volunteer
Commitment: varies based on event. Events occur throughout the year. Assisting the Community Relations Chairperson in ensuring that information about activities in conjunction with The Woodlands Township (Earth Day Green Up, Chili Cook Off, and other activities), as well as other environmental awareness is being presented to faculty and parent communities in a timely fashion.
Field Day
Commitment: one -two days in the spring. Help set up shade canopies and games, help run games, clean up.
5th Grade Celebration
Commitment: a few weeks throughout the year. Work with the 5th grade teachers and parents to help plan and implement the 5th grade celebration within budget guidelines. Work with art teacher to select a 5th grade t-shirt design. Order and distribute 5th grade shirts. Communicate with the Junior High regarding incoming 6th grade activities.
