Thank you for considering becoming a volunteer for the Puppy Jake Foundation. Volunteers work in a wide variety of roles to support Puppy Jake's mission. We strive to match our volunteer's skills, talents, and interests with the organization's needs. The process of becoming a volunteer begins with this online application. Once complete you will be contacted by a volunteer coordinator to schedule an orientation.

Puppy Jake Foundation is dedicated to helping military veterans through the assistance of well bred, socialized and professionally trained service dogs. We are proud to select, train and place only the best-performing dogs with these deserving men and women.

What type of volunteer work are you interested in? Check all that apply.

Puppy Sitter: As a puppy sitter you will sporadically take puppies and dogs to help Fosters and provide different learning opportunities. As a sitter, you will be contacted for help when a Foster may be out of town or have prior commitments. If it works in your schedule you can sign-up to temporarily care for one of these wonderful pups!

Foster: As a Foster you are assigned a puppy or dog within phases 1-4 that will live with you full-time for approximately 5 months. When serving as a Foster you will attend mandatory training sessions once a week. You will be provided with assistance from the Trainer assigned to your phase and they will assist you every step of the way.

Back-Up Handler: As a back-up handler you will attend class, get "leash time" with the dogs, and assist with transferability of skills.

Puppy/Dog Transporter: Help transport puppies/dogs to appointments or events when the fosters are unable to do so.

Promotion and Fundraising Events Assistance: As a volunteer in this role you could help set up at events, attend events, collect money, be in communication with events coordinators, transport dogs, etc. There are so many fun ways to get involved in this area!

Behind the Scenes Admin: As a volunteer in this role you could help transport dogs, rescue dogs, conduct home visits, assist phase 5 Trainers by greeting veterans, running errands, picking up lunch etc. Opportunities "behind the scenes" are unlimited!
