ASU Hispanic Business Alumni Chapter
The ASU Hispanic Business Alumni Association (HBA) is looking for Board Members who have an interest in helping us make a difference in our community. The mission of HBA is to provide the means to achieve academic success and ensure graduation of deserving Hispanic Business undergraduate students at Arizona State University and to support the development of its members and the community it serves, through solid and creative fundraising activities.
Board Positions available:
HBA has the following board positions currently open: 3 Directors at Large Positions & Marketing/Communication Co-Chair
Key Responsibilities of all Board Positions:
• 2-year term commitment (terms are July through June).
• Consistent attendance at regular board meeting (meetings are held from 6pm to 8pm the 3rd Wednesday of every month)
• Communicate actively with the rest of the board regarding availability, conflicts, and workload.
• Be a paid member of the ASU Alumni Association and commit to keeping membership in good standing while serving on the board ($45 annual or $500 lifetime membership, for more details visit: ASU ALUMNI and enter Hispanic Business Alumni under “membership referral made by”)
• Participation as an active member on at least one committee
• Contributing in organization activities such as scholarship reception, mixers, and professional development sessions.
• High participation is expected for HBA’s annual signature fund-raising events: Noche de Loteria (spring) & Bud Shootout Golf Tournament (fall)
• Preparation in advance of monthly board meetings by reading and studying materials sent regarding key actions the board is expected to take during the board meeting.
Marketing/Communication Co-Chair- Establish strong ties with Hispanic Business Alumni members and the community at large by promoting the mission of the organization through consistent marketing and outreach events.
Duties include:
• Ensure effective internal and external communications
• Be responsible for all marketing, promotional, public relations and media relations
• Create a bi-annual newsletter to be distributed to alumni and community leaders
• Maintain the chapter website and list serve
• Update HBA collateral materials
• Leverage Social Media to promote the mission of the organization and its goals
Director At Large- Serve as a general board member that and commit to chairing and/or assisting at least one HBA committee. Individual must be a paid member of the ASU Alumni Association and of the Hispanic Business Alumni Chapter.
