DESE is offering Tier 2 and Tier 3 Interpreter in the Education Setting training this spring at no cost to participants.
The Tier 2 course will prepare individuals as interpreters in the general education setting. Tier 2 course will be held February 12 - April 8, 2024, Wednesdays 6-8pm. No class the week of February vacation.
The Tier 3 course is recommended for interpreters who will support families in specialized meetings, including special education. Tier 3 course will be held February 12 - April 22, 2024, Mondays 3-5pm. No class the weeks of February and April vacation.
Participants must be able to demonstrate proficiency in English and another language and receive permission from a district supervisor to register for this course.
A district contact should fill out a separate form for each individual interested in participating.
Time Commitment: The course will be held virtually 2 hours per week. Participants can expect to spend 2-4 hours per week on required readings/activities.
Successful participants will receive a certificate of completion as a Tier 2 or 3 Interpreter in the Education Setting from the National Association of Educational Translators and Interpreters (NAETISL).
