    Volunteer Roles

COMMISSARY - Basic food prep, and serving food and beverages to staff and performers. Shifts start at least a few hours before the event starts, and run all the way past the event's end time. Some lifting and food running inside the venue may occur during your shift and you may be standing during your shift. -------------------------------------------------- WILL CALL - Checking in performers, staff, volunteers and anybody else that is on the will call list. You should be comfortable working with multiple lists, even during hectic times and when multiple people are talking to you at once. You must be able and willing to follow instructions on marking names off in a standardized way. Shifts will start a few hours before the event starts and go until near the end of the event. -------------------------------------------------- TICKET TAKER - responsible for tearing tickets or stamping hands as people enter the event. THIS IS NOT GREETING. Your job will be to keep the line flowing quickly. This is a standing position. -------------------------------------------------- CROWD CONTROL - Help keep the line of people coming into the event moving smoothly, and making sure people exiting aren't trying to go out the entrance. -------------------------------------------------- SIMPLE SECURITY - Just making sure that only authorized people go into secure areas, such as back stage, and hospitality areas. -------------------------------------------------- SET-UP/TEAR DOWN - No special skills are required, but you must be able to lift at least 50 pounds over your head, climb ladders, walk up and down stairs or long distance while carrying objects, and hustle. WE HIGHLY PREFER TO HAVE THE SAME PEOPLE ON BOTH SET-UP AND TEAR DOWN. Set-up will be during the afternoon on the day of the event. Tear down will start as the event is wrapping up at the end of the night and go until we're done. -------------------------------------------------- DECOR - This role is similar to Set-up/Teardown in time commitment, and ability to lift and climb, but it has more to do with making the event look pretty. If you like to make stuff look nice, this role is for you. -------------------------------------------------- BACKSTAGE ASSISTANT - Very limited roles, so please give us other choices. This role assists the Back Stage Managers, delivering water to performers, moving equipment around stage, and anything else they need help with. Must be able to comfortable lift 25 lbs. -------------------------------------------------- PARKING HELP - Very limited shifts which are during the day of the event during set-up. You will be directing artists, theme camps, venders etc. to where they can park to unload, and where they can park for long term. You will keep traffic moving, and make sure vehicles aren't being left in somebody els's way, etc.
