Sexual Harassment in the Philadelphia Food Service Industry
This survey is being conducted by the Coalition for Restaurant Safety & Health (CRSH), a local effort to create workplaces free of sexual harassment through education and advocacy. The survey is intended to represent the experiences of workers who have worked in Philadelphia in the last 12 months.
This survey is part of a study about sexual harassment that restaurant and hospitality workers experience on the job in their industries. We are hoping to better understand the working conditions in these industries with the aim of developing workplace best practices and public policy in order to improve the safety and security of restaurant and hospitality workers.
Your participation in this study will provide the much-needed perspective of workers. Understanding your work experience will also allow us to develop adequate prevention and response tools against sexual harassment at the workplace. The following is some important information you should know before starting:
• The survey is voluntary. Some of the questions are of a sensitive nature. You do not have to participate if you do not wish to. You may also choose not to respond to a particular question. Finally, you are free to stop participating in the survey at any time.
• The survey is confidential. This means that your name will not be attached to your survey responses, and your answers will not be shared with anyone other than employees and volunteers at CRSH that are directly involved with this project. Instead, your answers will be combined anonymously with the answers of other participants to give a general picture of working conditions in the restaurant and hospitality industries.
If you have any questions or concerns about the research or research subjects’ rights, you should contact:
or call the Coalition of Restaurant Safety and Health at (267) 571-6720.
