Health Engagement Course Application
Students who undertake this course will come away with a broad understanding of DPRK healthcare engagement. Beginning with an overview of common medical pathologies in the DPRK, the students will learn about the various professional engagement activities taking place on the frontiers of medical education and humanitarian aid. As the first course of its kind to educate students about DPRK health, the course seeks to establish a community of individuals who can connect with each other around their mutual interest in this region.
Confirmed lecturers include. Dr. Charlie Sands of the Pyongyang University of Science and Technology, Dr. Kee Park of the Korean American Medical Association Global Outreach Program, and Heidi Linton of Christian Friends of Korea
Student Expectations
The course will run from June 14- July 11 and intake will be limited to 20 students. The course will run on Moodle, an online course platform. Students will watch pre-recorded lectures in advance and be expected to participate in discussions afterwards. Students will be expected to turn in weekly assignments in a timely manner. Each module is expected to take 3-4 hours to complete. A Certificate of Completion will be awarded to students who complete the course. There is a course fee of $5, which will go towards covering online programming and administrative costs. Money leftover will be used to further Engage Korea's educational efforts.
