Swell Equestrian Riding Lesson Program
Swell horseback riding lessons are focused on improving your horsemanship skills in a fun & safe learning environment.
Your riding lesson will be approximately 60 minutes in length from start to finish, and may include up to five horse and rider combinations. Students and parents can expect approximately a 2 hour time commitment for weekly lessons which includes preparing your horse, the riding lesson, and tidying up following the lesson. Please arrive thirty minutes early to prepare your horse before your scheduled lesson time. After your lesson, please help untack your horse and groom him/her and pick out his/her stall. Please bring a carrot or apple for your horse to reward him/her after your ride.
For the Learn to Ride program, we require a parent, guardian or friend of the rider to lead the horse around the ring during the lesson while following direction from the instructor for the duration of the lesson.
What you will need
-An ASTM approved riding helmet
-Riding boots with a 1/2 inch heel
-Gloves
-Riding breeches
-Grooming kit including: rubber curry comb, body brush, dandy brush, hoof pick, mane comb, hand towel, hoof oil, glycerine saddle soap and sponge
-Nova Scotia Equestrian Federation Membership. Memberships can be purchased at https://horsenovascotia.ca/Membership-Types.
-A signed waiver form
We recommend shopping at Greenhawk Equestrian or Equestrian Closet Consignment store in Sackville for these items. Some items can also be found at Decathlon at the Mic Mac Mall.
Lesson Costs, Pricing Includes HST
As a new registrant in our lesson program you are required to pay a one time $155 notice deposit.
The weekly group riding lesson fee is $315 per month. If you are unable to make your regular weekly group lesson for any reason, you can have a makeup based on availability for $10 per lesson
Pay As You Go Lessons, Pricing Includes HST
60 minute Group Lessons $77 per person
60 minute Semi-private lessons are $93 per person
60 minute Private lessons are $105 per lesson
45 minute Semi-Private $75 per person
45 minute Private $85 per lesson
30 minute Private $60 per lesson
Payment
Your Lessons fees are due and payable on the 15th of the month prior. For instance, September 2026 groups riding lesson e-transfers are due August 15, 2026. Payment is made via e-transfer to swellequestrian@gmail.com. As a new registrant in our lesson program you are required to pay a one time $155 notice deposit.

Makeup Lessons
In the event Swell Equestrian has to cancel your lesson, there is no charge for a makeup lessons. In the event you are not able to make it to your scheduled weekly lesson, make up lessons are available for $10 per lesson per rider including hst. How to withdrawal from your lesson program
If you are withdrawing from the lesson program, please provide fifteen days written notice by email to swellequestrian@gmail.com, in order to receive your full written notice deposit back ($155). Failure to do so means that you will forfeit the one time $155 written notice deposit you paid us.
