Mental health is one of the leading topics in today's society. Studies show that kindness can help combat the ills of mental health. Research shows that being kind increases oxytocin (love hormone), energy, happiness, lifespan, pleasure and serotonin. Research also shows that kindness decreases pain, stress, anxiety, depression and blood pressure.

The Cook Center for Human Connection ( is a non-profit organization focused on promoting mental wellness and eradicating suicide. Our mission is to bring together the best organizations, programs and products to prevent suicide, provide mental health support and enhance human connections essential for people to thrive.

After extensive research, the Cook Center has chosen to support the installation of Choose Kindness into schools. Choose Kindness is a school-based kindness program designed to infuse kindness into daily school life. Choose Kindness is proven to:
-build an inclusive culture
-reduce mental health issues
-create a safe learning environment
-develop kinder individuals
-promote kindness

Each grant will award 100% of funding to implement Choose Kindness in year one. Previous grant recipients can apply for a 50% grant for year two, and a 25% grant in year three. The grant includes the license to use and implement Choose Kindness in your school, as well as the implementation kit, comprehensive curriculum, training, active customer support, and access to a library of resources and ideas.
