The learning community of Stuyvesant Campus (HPHS, ICE and PS 226) recognize that the physical condition of the school prevents students and staff with mobility issues, and disabilities from freely and fairly participating. We, therefore, demand that those responsible for the maintenance and improvement of the school building take steps to make 345 East 15th Street fully accessible. Students have the right to have access with dignity, to all parts of the campus where learning takes place.
Accordingly, the following steps must be taken:
- Ramps, lifts, or elevators are installed at street level to allow access, from the street to the first floor
- Elevators are installed between the first floor and the basement, allowing access to the gym and auditorium
- Elevator infrastructure for both 15th Street and 16th Street-side elevators be fortified and improved to make them reliable daily
