Please join us for this two hour workshop for musicians who love Rumi. Together, we'll enter Rumi’s mystical verses, not just as readers, but as musicians, singers, and spiritual practitioners. Come to listen, to chant, to improvise, as we explore how Rumi's words can become seeds for new song prayers, improvisations and for the experiential knowing of non-dual, awake-awareness.

facilitators:

Kath Weider, M.A., teaches vocal arts at her Studio for Vocal Alchemy in Ann Arbor, MI, where she leads song circles, classes and retreats weaving meditation, inquiry, and the sacred arts of music and improvisation. She has been a student of meditation and inquiry for over 30 years, is a certified facilitator of Effortless Mindfulness and a graduate of Music for People's improvisation program. You can listen to her album, Prayer Beads here, which includes song prayers inspired by Rumi poems and other Sufi poets.

Michael London, PhD, is a musician and recording artist with a soulful voice and a great touch on guitar. An accomplished songwriter, Michael is adept at many guitar styles and has released five albums. He offers us a musical window into the ecstatic poems of the mystical poet Rumi, exploring our connection with the self, humanity, nature and beyond. His songs speak directly to us and get to the central themes of living with passion and true joy.  Michael is a former college professor and has a PhD in Organizational Behavior.
