On November 5 from 6-8pm we will host a parent night at LEC. The focus will be showing LEC parents the way you learn at LEC. We will show interactive notebooks, partner reading, labs, philosophical chairs and more! Every student will be responsible for planning part of the event, even if you can't come!

Topics that will be covered:
1) Students Teach! Students will show parents how they would teach science topics.
2) What happens when you mix math and AVID: Students will show math scavenger hunts and algebra aerobics.
3) Making and Sharing Decisions: Show your parents how philosophical chairs works!
4) Reading Actively: Partner read with your parents and show them how to annotate the text.
5) Interactive Notebooks: Make math foldables and illustrate science topics with your parents.
6) What do freshmen need to do to get on track to make it to the college of their dreams? Learn how to read track sheets and plan for success at LEC and CCCC.

Important Notes: Some of you have been nominated by teachers to be student leaders. Student Leaders will help lead an activity with a teacher helping them. CHOOSE ONLY YOUR 1st and 2nd CHOICES!

Decoration and Hospitality Committee - Tasks include: Making welcome banners, decorating classrooms, handing out snacks during room rotations

Public Relations and Advertising Committee - Tasks: Create invitations/fliers and email announcements to go out to parents (if you can't come on the night of, you can sign up for this!)

Babysitters - Tasks: Plan activities for little kiddos, watch the kids on Parent Night

Welcoming Committee - Tasks: Plan icebreakers for the first rotation, act as tour guides on Parent Night, make a map to help parents get to the right place

Translator Team - Tasks: Translate invitations, make welcome signs in different languages, shadow and travel with parents who need a translator and whose student is a student leader

Scheduling and Logistics Team - Tasks: Plan purchase/supply request list by talking to other groups, design schedules for parents

College Planning Pros - Tasks: Create track sheets that make sense for top career clusters, make posters sharing important information about preparing for college (Sign up for this is you can't come on the night of!)
