2016 Business Supporting Community-Business Participation
For some businesses, cleaning much beyond their front door or parking lot is challenging. The City of Edmonton would like to help keep your business area clean and attractive by offering the services of nonprofit organizations (NPO’s).
The Business Supporting Community (BSC) initiative matches businesses with nonprofit groups as a unique fund-raising activity for NPOs. Businesses pay groups for litter cleanup in a one-block radius of their business location, on public property, and around the business location up to one hour per week. The City of Edmonton facilitates the relationship between NPOs and Businesses to ensure smooth payment processes and communication. Businesses may also choose to sponsor a clean up in a block containing a seniors centre, daycare, etc.Garbage receptacles will be strategically placed on City rights-of-way, within a one-block radius of each participating business. The receptacles will be emptied by the City of Edmonton on a regular basis. The BSC program is a 16-week commitment starting on or around May 1, 2016- on or around September 1, 2016.
