Payment:

I use a subscription system for lessons, billing is processed automatically on the 25th of each month through a billing software called Fons. Each charge covers lessons for the upcoming month (for example, your subscription charge on March 25th would cover lessons from April 1st-30th). If you are signing up for lessons in the middle of the month, you will be charged a prorated amount for your remaining lessons in that month.

Lessons are based on a rate of 4 lessons per month, charged once a month year-round. In an average year, most months have 4 weeks of viable lesson days, but about 4 months out of the year will have 5 lesson days in a month. Though you are (theoretically) paying for lessons year-round, you are paying for 48 weeks of lessons in a 52 week year, spread out over the course of 52 weeks.

This system helps create a sustainable, living wage for a teacher. If you have any further questions about how this works, feel free to reach out.

$55 for 30 minutes $220/mo
$72 for 45 minutes $288/mo
$90 for 60 minutes $360/mo
$100 for 75 minutes $400/mo
$115 for 90 minutes $460/mo
Trial Lesson: $40 for 30 minutes

In-studio or Online:

$45 for 30 minutes $180/mo
$62 for 45 minutes $248/mo
$80 for 60 minutes $320/mo
$95 for 75 minutes $380/mo
Trial Lesson: $35 for 30 minutes

I have some capacity to offer sliding scale rates or alternative options to families who find these rates inaccessible and are looking for music lessons, please inquire if you are interested in this offering.

Holidays:

The following holidays are time off for both client and teacher and are not eligible for refund or rescheduling.

One week off - to be scheduled by teacher (typically in summer months)

I follow the Seattle Public Schools Academic calendar for these holidays:

Spring break
Thanksgiving Day
Winter break in December

All other holidays will be treated as regular lesson days.

Discontinuing Lessons

The first month of lessons is considered a trial period during which you can cancel at any time. After the initial trial period, if you wish to discontinue lessons, 30 days notice of discontinuation is required. Your subscription will renew for one more month, and you will have 4 lessons remaining, which the student may attend if they choose.

If you are reassessing lessons for yourself or your student, and would like to make a change in how lessons operate, I’d be happy to have a conversation to discuss goals and lesson format. It’s always my objective to provide lessons that meet the student’s needs as they change over time.

Cancellation Policy

When a student is unable to attend their regularly scheduled lesson time, here are the options.

Under 48 Hours Notice of Cancellation:

I cannot make up lessons that are cancelled with less than 48hrs notice except in case of illness or emergency.
If there is an emergency, I can offer a Video Lesson at the student’s request.

Video lessons will include instructions for personalized exercises and practice that the student can follow along with. Video(s) will be provided within 3 days of the request., and will include a mixture of instructions, exercise demonstrations, and a list of tasks/pieces for the student to complete as part of their practice.

Over 48 Hours Notice of Cancellation:

Video Lesson (as defined above)
Attempt to reschedule (not guaranteed)

In-Studio - Capitol Hill
Virtual (Facetime or Zoom)

My availability for reschedules changes week to week, please inquire at time of cancellation if you are interested in this option. Makeup options (if desired) must be used within 60 days from the date of the missed lesson, after which the lesson will expire.

Note on In-Home Reschedules: If I have availability to reschedule your lesson as an in-home, I will offer my availability at the time. I do my best to offer reschedules and work with every family’s needs, however I am not able to guarantee an In-home makeup lesson for every student absence. Each family has a very different schedule and needs for their student, which is why I offer the virtual and In-studio options outlined above. I appreciate your flexibility and understanding.

Teacher Cancellations

If I am unable to attend a lesson, I will first try to provide alternative lesson options. This could include virtual lessons, providing a substitute teacher, video lessons, or rescheduling. If we are unable to arrange a lesson alternative for a teacher cancellation, I can process a partial refund for your subscription.

Schedule Changes

If the student’s schedule is changing and they need to change their lesson time, I would appreciate as much notice as possible, and at minimum, 2 weeks notice.
