WHAT IS THE MINT?More than just a shared workshop with all the tools you don't have space for or couldn't afford on your own, The MINT is a community of people sharing their knowledge, experience, and ideas in addition to tools, equipment, and workshop space. Our members include hobbyists, DIY enthusiasts, educators, students, entrepreneurs, non-profit, and for-profit companies.
We are currently an all-volunteer led organization that offers access to eight different shops; metal, wood, pottery, rapid prototyping, glass, jewelry, letterpress, and textiles, with access to almost any tool necessary to create almost anything. We offer orientations and classes in different shops and we also have studio spaces available for rent. Members get discounted rates on classes and opportunities to sell goods in our downtown space.
Located at 112 Quality Ln, Rutland, VT. We give free tours to see the space if you are interested in learning more.

What is the scholarship?
This scholarship is made possible through grant funding from the Vermont Women’s
Fund and is designed to support and empower women and non-binary individuals within
our community. We believe in fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for all,
and we are honored to offer you this opportunity. We launched this opportunity for the
very first time in the fall of 2024 and had twenty applicants, making this a competitive
and successful debut! We received more funds this year so we are excited to offer more scholarships to people who will benefit from a MINT membership and classes.
Depending on need, we will offer 6 month-year long memberships to the MINT for free for women and non-binary folks who express a need and desire to work at The MINT. A MINT membership is $75 a month, so this scholarship is valued at $450-$900.
Qualifications: the applicant must be 18 years or older to become a member and consider themselves a woman or non-binary in whatever form that takes.
What is the timeline?
Please apply by November 23, 2025 for priority and we will take additional applications on a rolling basis if we have extra funds after that. Once accepted, the membership will start after the applicant is successfully onboarded.
*Please note that, in order to work independently in any of our shops, you must go through an
introductory/orientation. Each shop has a unique orientation process, which we will support you
to understand based on your preferred shop(s). Additional classes will be charged at a Member
rate.
