Swallowtail Spring Fest Pie Contest
This contest is open to anyone who wishes to participate!
there will be an adult group (age 16+) and a children’s group (under 16)
1st, 2nd & 3rd place winners from each group will get awesome prizes including baking goodies, flowers, swallowtail swag & more!
A recipe must accompany your pie. All recipes must include the ingredient list, instructions, contestant name, phone number and email address.
Pies must be either sweet or savory and must not require refrigeration before serving.
Crusts and filling must be made from scratch. No store brought crust, dough, or canned fillings may be used. Each pie must contain at least a bottom crust. Bake in a disposable pie tin or plate.
Pie must be prepared & baked by the individual submitting the pie entry for judging.
Please do not write your name on the pie tin. Your entry will be assigned a number at registration to allow for anonymity during judging.
Pies must be dropped off from 12:00pm-2pm  on Saturday, April 16th at the Swallowtail Farm Spring Festival. Bring your pie to the information booth and you will be directed from there. NOTE: no entries will be accepted after 2pm 

Judging
1.  Each pie will be judged on the following criteria:
Overall appearance: crust and filling color, creative detailing, even distribution of filling, etc.
Overall flavor: fresh taste, texture, doneness, consistency, etc.
Originality: creativity in appearance and flavor
2.  The decision of the judges is final. Judges will not know participants names.
3.  Judging starts at 3pm
5.  The winners will be announced immediately following the close of judging.
6.  At the end of the awards, pies will be sliced and the public may sample a piece of pie by making a donation to the Hawthorne Community Market.
