AVIN Waterloo Ventures Program
Detailed, comprehensive, high-definition (HD) mapping data is the virtual fuel that powers autonomous vehicles (AV) on public roads. To navigate safely and efficiently on any roadway, anywhere, AV need HD mapping data that includes information on lane markings, road signs, building facades, pedestrian pathways, streetlights, sign posts, trees, construction variations and more.

Open HD Maps is creating an innovative open HD mapping ecosystem by compiling the richest, most complete HD mapping dataset and making it available to everyone on a non-proprietary platform. As you can imagine, the resulting mapping platform and aggregated capabilities will also have application to other sectors such as smart city initiatives, utilities, infrastructure, real estate, augmented reality and much more.

The Autonomous Vehicle Innovation Network (AVIN) Waterloo Regional Technology Development Site (RTDS) Ventures program supports Ontario based small/medium enterprises (SMEs) (less than 500 employees) that use data-driven maps and mapping technologies in the development or enhancement of their products or services.

The final closing date for accepting applications is Jun 12, 2020, 17:00.

Note: in order to be eligible you must have registered for the AVIN program with the Waterloo Regional Technology Development Zone: https://oce.formstack.com/forms/avin_registration. Select Regional Technology Development Zone under "participation type" and select Waterloo.
