Eligibility

Rumble in the Kingdom is open to any existing business or emerging idea based in Vermont's Northeast Kingdom (NEK) or Upper Valley region or New Hampshire's North Country. We welcome startups and entrepreneurs across a wide range of industries, stages, and business types. Whether you’re refining a new idea or scaling something established, what matters most is that you have a vision to grow or improve your business, and a desire to pitch your idea to our region.

Not sure if you're a fit? Reach out! Email or call us (802) 427-4082 — we’re happy to talk it through and help you decide. We want you to be successful.

Why Pitch?
This is more than a chance to win prize money (though that's pretty great, too). It's an opportunity to showcase your idea or business to a live audience of potential supporters, customers, partners, and investors, gain exposure in your community and across the region, receive pitch coaching and support to help sharpen your message, and join a growing network of rural entrepreneurs and ecosystem builders

Oh—and did we mention?

You’ll be competing for cash prizes!

  1. Best Pitch – $5,000
Awarded to the most compelling, clear, and persuasive pitch of the night.

  2. Community Impact – $5,000
Goes to the business with the greatest potential to make a positive difference in the region.

  3. Potential to Scale – $5,000
Recognizes a venture with strong potential for growth, replication, or expansion.

  4. Audience Choice – $2,500
This prize goes to the crowd favorite.

Tell us about your business.

What do (or will) you make, produce, or sell?
Give us a clear snapshot of your product, service, or offering. If you’re still in the idea phase, describe what you plan to create and who it's for.

Help us understand what you’re building.

Why do you believe your business or idea will succeed?

Tell us what makes your business (or business idea) a strong one. What problem are you solving? Why is now the right time? What gives you confidence it can grow and thrive, especially in a rural region like ours?
Who is your competition and what sets you apart?

Every business has competition. Who else is offering something similar to your product or service?
What makes your approach, product, or experience better or different?

If your business is successful, what impact will it have?

Think beyond profit—what kind of difference will your business make? Will it create local jobs? Fill a gap in your community? Support the environment? Inspire others?

Tell us what success looks like—not just for you, but for the people and places your business touches.

What is your ask? If you win prize money, how will you use it to grow your business?

Be as specific as possible. Will you buy equipment, fund a marketing campaign, develop a prototype, secure a space, or something else?

We want to understand how this funding will help move your business forward, and why it matters now
