Generally new faculty are excused from campus meetings because this event is highly valued by the CSUN community.
Do you plan to attend President Harrison's special reception to honor the newly hired faculty on Thursday evening (in her home)? *
Keep in mind, there are limited opportunities for untenured faculty to socialize with the President in her home, so this is an event you don't want to miss. At NFO we can arrange some partnerships so we can all arrive together.
When we plan the meals, we will try to take into consideration your needs.
Unfortunately meals will be finalized the second week in August.
In an effort to prevent any surprises in your adjustment as a new full-time employer at CSUN, which of the following facts below are you learning for the first time now? Check all that apply.

If you feel compelled, tell us where you earned other degrees (e.g., BA, MA/MS/MEd/etc.).

What is the one cause you feel most passionate about?
"Bringing people together- helping others develop their interpersonal relationships."
For pure fun, what is one of your non-academic hobbies and/or something unique about you?
Pretend you are at a campus social event and someone from a completely different College (thus field of study) asked you, "So what kinds of things do you study? What's your research topic?"
Keep this under 2-3 sentences.
If being a professor wasn't going to work out, what was your fun non-related "back-up plan"?
"I would be the confederate actor on Candid Camera/Punk'd TV shows that goes around pranking other people. I love tricking others."
What's one of your favorite habits? OR what is one of your least favorite habits?
805 Bootcamp- every morning at 5:30am sharp! Depending on the activity that day, it's either my favorite or least favorite. Anybody have tips for those who hate to run?"
What is your favorite or least favorite part of your day?
"My favorite part of the day is at night after both my kids are tucked into bed, lunches have been made, and I'm drinking my decaf coffee with a fire. It's the first moment in my entire day that I have likely relaxed."
If you could learn something new, what would it be?
"How to do landscaping AND make my yard look good. Anyone want to come help me- I'll feed you dinner for some advice!"
Who is someone (or some pet!) that is a really important part of your life?
"My horse, Ferdinand, always makes my day when I go riding during the evenings."
In order to starting building connections across all the newly hired tenure-track faculty for 2014-2015, we will post some of this information in a google map for others to see. For instance, where are you coming from, your last position, your positive CSUN selling point, and something fun about you. Let us know if you do not give permission to post this information. *
