The provision of opportunities through the Instrumental Music Advancement Program (IMAP) is at the discretion of the Head of Arts, in consultation with Music Staff and the Principal. The terms, conditions and duration of participation in the program are determined by the Head of Arts on a case by case basis and are reviewed annually.
The Instrumental Music Advancement Program primarily focuses on providing support to students studying multiple instruments and/or wishing to engage in studies on a second (or subsequent) instrument, having already demonstrated outstanding commitment to their studies on their primary instrument. Support for piano, guitar or voice lessons is not provided through this program.
IMAP students are expected to:
•
Participate in a minimum of one school ensemble, as soon as they are technically ready.
•
Maintain the expected level of commitment to their Instrumental Music studies and ensembles.
•
Participate in performance activities at school and in the wider community.
•
Maintain and care for school instruments appropriately.
•
Students in Year 8 and above are also encouraged to study (elective) Music as a subject.
Note: Students who do not meet these expectations may have their IMAP privileges withdrawn on the recommendation of the Head of Arts to the Principal. Alternatively, students who demonstrate an outstanding commitment to their Instrumental Music Studies may have their privileges extended beyond the initial period.
