You can make a difference.
On September 30, 2015 the second annual exhibit of 1100 white flip flop sandals will be installed on the Pfau Library lawn at CSUSB. This exhibit will represent the approximately 1100 college students that die by suicide each year. Stories of those lost to suicide will also be featured in the exhibit. This event will raise awareness and provide valuable resources to help prevent further tragedies.
You are invited to submit your story which will be placed on a flip flop sandal in our suicide awareness and prevention exhibit, Step Into Awareness. Your story may not be featured in this year's event, but will be included in future events. If you have a picture of the person you are writing about, please email that to Tess Webster-Henry at
webster@csusb.edu and include the name of the person and "Step Into Awareness" in the subject line. Pictures are encouraged as they put a face to the story.
We will include your submitted text and picture on a laminated sign and attach it to one of the 1100 flip flops in the Step Into Awareness exhibit. The exhibit is planned to take place yearly and your submitted story will remain a permanent feature of the event.
You are welcome to forward this form to anyone you think would like to participate.
Step Into Awareness is a collaborative project between CSUSB Office of Student Engagement, The Student Health Center, Counseling and Psychological Services and THR!VE - Health Promotion.
