COMPETITION GUIDELINES
To observe the earmarked time for the competition proper, the number of slots for choral groups to compete will be limited to six (6). Registration period will start once the registration form is uploaded publicly. First come, first served basis.
Currently, each church/team may participate in both competition. In the event that all slots for the choir and quartet competitions are filled, we kindly request that the church/team consider performing a special number instead.
The Choral group must contain 4 voice type (e.g. Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass); other voice types are allowed (mezzo-soprano, baritone, etc.).
The Choir Competition is open to participants of all ages, including newly married individuals (married individuals must be 30 years of age and below and have been married within May 2024 to May 2025).
The Choral Group member should be composed of registered campers (minimum of 8). Furthermore, a list of choral group members will be asked during registration period.
Joint Church Choral groups are allowed to participate in the said competition; Missionary Baptist churches to form a one choral group are permitted to join the competition.
Teams are required to submit only the title of their warm-up piece to the competition organizers before the competition starts.
The choral performance piece should only aim to Gospel hymns, and spiritual songs that will glorify God. Contemporary and worldly songs are strictly prohibited.
The choral performance allows blockings and minimal choreography as long as the movements form an integral part of the piece (clapping, foot stomping, body percussion, hand raising) with the knowledge of the organizers and guidance of Camp Directors. Please take note that the minimal choreography will not have any impact to the total score of the performance but encouraged to do so as desired.
The Choir Director/Conductor must be an incumbent, bonafide member of the church where he or she belongs.
Should there be changes in the membership of the choir prior to the performance proper, only 10% of the total number may be allowed provided that the new members are also registered campers. The new list must be submitted before the day of competition proper.
The PMBYF Choir Competition committee recognizes its responsibilities under the Data Privacy Act of 2012 with respect to the data that maintains, both soft and hard copies. All information acquired to the church choirs will be treated with utmost confidentiality and with care.
