Day of trash Bag Pick Up-Volunteers may pick up trash bags on Saturday, April 13th starting at 8:30am downtown at the Central Square.
General -Prior to completing your roadside pickup, review these guidelines with all members of your Clean Up Day group.-Make sure all volunteer vehicles are parked in a designated parking spot/parking lot. -Be aware of traffic and oncoming vehicles, especially along road side clean up spots. -Make sure sidewalks and pathways are clear for public use. Please do not allow group members/personal items to block accessibility. -Respect private property. Do not go onto property behind fences or gates with “Private Property” or “No Trespassing” signs.-Children should be supervised by adults at all times.
Litter -All litter should be bagged. Collect bags in 3-4 locations along your pick up route. Please make sure trash bags will be in easy view for our Waste Management drivers.-If volunteers find appliances, televisions, furniture or other large items, please make note of the item and location. Share this information with the Recreation Department so future removal of items can be scheduled. -Do not over fill trash bags. Filling trash bags with excessive litter will make them very difficult to be picked up.-Use caution when collecting litter. Please do not attempt to collect trash that is in any location that may pose a danger for you to access.
Hazardous Items-In the event that a hypodermic needle/syringe is found, do not touch it. Have an adult stand watch over it and call the Rochester Police Department so that they may properly dispose of it. Rochester Police Department Dispatch-330-7128.-Do not handle any hazardous wastes or potentially hazardous materials. Contact the Rochester Police Department if such materials are found.
