Advocates for Youth partners with youth leaders, adult allies, and youth-serving organizations to advocate for policies and champion programs that recognize young people’s rights to honest sexual health information; accessible, confidential, and affordable sexual health services; and the resources and opportunities necessary to create sexual health equity for all youth. In July, Massachusetts legislature passed the Medication Abortion (MAB) on Campus bill. Starting in the fall of 2023, ALL public universities in Massachusetts will provide medication abortion at their campus health centers, improving access to medication abortion for 13 campuses and their approximately 154,000 current undergraduates. We want your help in determining exactly HOW your health centers will do that!
Advocates for Youth hopes to find and partner with 12 current students enrolled in public Massachusetts' universities to MA Medication Abortion on Campus Student Advisory Board! The Campus Student Advisory Board will consist of 12 on-campus leaders and vocal supporters of increased access to abortion for youth, especially students. Advocates are paid a monthly stipend of $200 for their time and leadership; they will have access to two Campus Coordinators for support and guidance. Additional trainings on organizing, legislative process, and medication abortion will be provided by Advocates for Youth. The duration of the Campus Abortion Advocate role is November 2022 - June 2023. The initial training for MAB on Campus Student Advisory Board will be held in-person November 4th-5th, likely in the greater Boston Area; applicants must be able to attend a majority of this training, meals, lodging & transportation will be provided.
The application deadline is October 23, 2022 at 11:59pm EST.
