The African Experience Capstone Survey
This survey is to help us understand the African students at UMDs perspective on Americanization and African culture. We will use the information to help inform our capstone project which will be a poetry and painting exhibition to showcase the beauty of Africa and provide a safe space for other Africans who have felt their identity has been affected by being in the States.

The next question has to deal with Americanization. Please read the description below if you are unsure of what Americanization is or would like to learn more.
Americanization is defined as the process of an immigrant to the United States becoming a person who shares American values, beliefs and customs by assimilating into American society. For this question, even if you have not lived in African country, please think about any experiences you've had when you felt that being in the United States has affected your view of Africa. ie. Not being able to speak another language, not being "in touch with" your culture and knowing its history, not knowing how to prepare traditional food
Do you feel that being in the United States has Americanized you? If so, please elaborate in the other section.
