In this co-led class, dancers examine what happens when materials are placed next to each other. What associations arrive when we witness proximity? How can we stay flexible in these relationships and these perceptions?
We will witness this side-by-side-ness and ask: How can we watch two things without comparing them? How can duality invite curiosity and where can this curiosity go? What language do we need to see each person’s autonomy?
We will dance side-by-side and feel what it takes to be near something without conforming to it. This is a class for us to practice togetherness while maintaining our distinction. NEIGHBORING is a class for anyone who wants to practice being a good neighbor.
You can expect: a juicy warm-up, guided attunement, collaboration with peers, witnessing, reflecting, dancing, talking.
Masking optional.
