Thank you for your interest in authoring an essay for publication by the Global Council for Science and the Environment (GCSE).
GCSE essays provide a deeper look into trending topics and new ideas across the environmental and scientific communities, with a particular focus on use of science to inform decision-making about complex environmental challenges. Essays are published on GCSE’s website and promoted in our monthly newsletter, The Connection, composed of approximately 20,000 scientists, educators, policymakers, business leaders, and officials at all levels of government across the globe.
Eligibility: GCSE Essay proposals must be submitted by faculty, staff, or administrators at current GCSE member institutions.
Essay requirements: The final essay should be between 750-1200 words in length. The tone of the essay should be between that of a blog and an academic journal. Examples of previous essays can be found here.
Essay selection: GCSE staff will review and select essay proposals based on the relevance of the topic to GCSE member institutions, as well as the quality of the proposal and our current content needs. If your essay proposal is selected, GCSE staff will reach out to you via email to schedule a publication month.
Application instructions: Please complete the form below. You may propose multiple ideas, but please use a separate form for each proposal. Contact membership@gcseglobal.org with questions or concerns.
