College and Career Readiness Explorations Sign-Up Here!
At Fifth Avenue, we want to offer an outlet for students to explore their interests that may lead to a college or career choice. We want to foster curiosity and expand children’s experiences in a variety of disciplines and skills. We also want to provide enriching opportunities for them to develop and strengthen the IB transdisciplinary skills: research, social, thinking, communication and self-management.
When
College and career explorations will occur once each month for the remainder of the school year from 1:00 PM -2:30 PM. This month's date is January 29, 2016.
How
F.AVE community (staff, parents, businesses, etc.) members will be asked to design an experience for a group of students that will support their development of an interest that may lead to a college and/or career choice. A minimum of 12 students per adult supervision will ensure that there is a balanced teacher/student ratio for all.
Where
Explorations can occur all around the school and the local community. This is a perfect opportunity to explore colleges and/or careers in our local community and right here in our school!
Sign-up process
Each staff member and interested parent and/or community member should sign up to either lead independently (minimum-14 students) or co-lead (minimum 24 students) an exploration. The sign-up should include a title and brief description of the exploration. In addition to this, adults must indicate the IB transdisciplinary skill(s) that will be focused on during this time. Any parent or community volunteers will have a F.AVE staff member assigned to their exploration as well. The purpose of having the staff member is to assist with the exploration and/or handle any emergencies that may arise during the time. Staff are familiar with the students and the process and procedures of the school.
If you are repeating an exploration from November, please indicate that in the form below. Make sure you indicate if it is a repeat but with new students or a repeat with the same group of students as November.
The deadline is midnight January 24, 2016.
