Summer Ministry Internship Application - Kids Min
  • Job Description

    As a Summer Ministry Intern you will be helping to serve our children on Sundays and during the week, ranging from K-5th grade. The internship will last from the beginning of June to the beginning of August. 


    Responsibilities 

    • Help run a breakout room for VBS.  VBS is July 24th-28th.  You will work with Kelli to choose which breakout area to be in charge of.

    • Meet with a small group of kids once a week for a kid’s discipleship class based on 8 habits (revamped for kids) for the month of July 

    • Plan, coordinate, & execute 1-2 “Parent’s Night Out” event fundraisers over the summer.

    • Teach Sunday school twice a month.  Run check in once a month.  

    • Come to staff meetings every Tuesday and the extended staff meeting on 1st Tuesday of the month 

    • Meet with Kelli once a week 

    • Read assigned book for kid’s ministry or ministry leadership development (options will be given) 

    • Meet w/ Bethany twice a month to discuss personal spiritual formation & leadership development 

    • Sunday morning whole team meetings at 9:30am before service 

    • 2 Training sessions during the summer on ministry topics

    Time Commitment: 8-10 hours a week. VBS week will be more hours.

You will also have a valuable source of references from the leaders you work with who can be put down for applications. You will learn how to serve in children’s ministry and see the inner workings of how the church is run on a week to week basis. You will be invested in, not just in your leadership skills, but in your personal spiritual life as well. Our goal is to see you develop as a leader, teacher, event planner, organizer, and discipler of kids. We will also have some fun paid for events as a team. We want to have fun together, to grow in community, and to fellowship while we work and serve both God and His local church body at the Oaks. Compensation to be determined. 

    Requirements

    Listed above responsibilities and meetings. Sunday church service each week is mandatory to attend even if you are not serving. The VBS event July 24-28 is mandatory. If your schedule is not open to these commitments and you begin to miss major events, Sundays, and meetings we may end the internship early. Vacation days and days off should be submitted with application.
