Possible Mental Health/Depression Awareness Awareness Campaign starting from /r/depression
I'm trying to start a campaign for Mental Health awareness after seeing the great success of the ALS ice bucket challenge. I wanted help in what that should look like, what would keep people involved, and what would be most beneficial in educating the public even if we only got a very short time to hold their attention.

As of right now I'm setting up the responses to be anonymous and private and will provide a summary and follow up post to /r/depression later. (I'm very busy personally until Wednesday the 21st.)

If there was a large mental awareness and education campaign that spread through social media, and maybe even celebrities, what message would you want it to get accross?
If you have seen the Ice bucket challenge, do you think something similar, as providing a simple call to action would be benificial to the cause? Or do you think something very different would be better? *
When answering the last question, If you have more to share, please explain why you would want the mental health awareness campaign to be similar or very different from the Ice bucket challenge. What do you think works well with the ice bucket challenge and what does not work well? How would perspectives be different if something similar was used for a mental health campaign?
If you have an original idea for what you want the potential campaign to look like, please share. Where would it be shared? Would it be by picture, video, or social media text post? What information would the people share, and what would they ask of other people? How does it spread?
Would a campaign just for a specific mental illness be best (depression, bipolar disorder, PTSD...), or general mental health and awareness? *
What would be the best way to share this message and awareness campaign?
Clear selection
When would it be best to have this campaign timing wise? (Google led me to the top two options) *
Would a call to raise money be good, bad, irrelevant for this campaign? *
If you have more to share, why would it be good, bad, or nuetral to ask for money in this campaign as you envision it?
If we were going to ask for money, which charities would be good to promote? List with a comma after each one.
For example: Charity ABC, Charity XYZ,....
Would there be any charities to avoid, that might harm our message, or misuse the money? Please list any you have concerns with.
For example: Charity ABC (was accused of mishandling their money), Charity XYZ (has had leadership issues, leader takes too large a salary),...
If we were choosing a charity, would you choose one charity or multiple charities? *
If you think this campaign will be accused with "Slacktivism," as in activism that takes little effort and has little effect, how can we avoid that?
What do friends, family, coworkers, and strangers around you need to know more about mental health in your opinion?
(please keep a short summary or list on top so I can summarize them easily later, then feel free to type away after)
If you or someone close to you know has had mental health problems, what are their main problems and social stigma's you have dealt with when dealing with the mental illness or getting help?
(please keep a short summary or list on top so I can summarize them easily later, then feel free to type away after)
If I was to share results with a follow up and results post, would you care if the anonymous responses of yours were shared with /r/depression or /r/mentalhealth? *
(I will not be posting the entire survery results link publically under any circumstances)
What do you think the best way to organize the planning of the challenge would be? (I'm one person and way too busy to handle this by myself) *
Any other thoughts, concerns, or things not covered in the survey you would like to share?
